Honda Drops City Prices By 66,000!

The City sedan will cost between Rs. 7.49 lakh and Rs. 9.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) according top Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI). HSCI Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen in his statement said: “In anticipation of bigger volumes resulting in economies of scale from the second half of current year, we have achieved considerable cost reduction and are happy to pass on the benefit to the customers with immediate effect."
This statement is a clear indication that Honda Siel is trying to recoup the Honda City's position as India's highest selling mid-size sedan. We had earlier reported that the Volkswagen Vento had taken over the top selling spot from the City in May. Honda City's sales have been slowly coming down due to the lack of a diesel engine.
Mr Sen while speaking about how Honda was able to reduce the Honda City's price said: “In anticipation of bigger volumes resulting in economies of scale from the second half of current year, we have achieved considerable cost reduction and are happy to pass on the benefit to the customers with immediate effect. This price revision is in line with Honda's global vision of creating products that maximise the joy of customers, with speed, affordability and low CO2."
