General Motors Launches Smartech engines
A new engine designed locally to suit the Indian condition has been launched by General Motors. The general motors company said the new design of products is from its Bangalore plant and is under 1.2 lit which will be on production from its Talegaon plant. The 1.2 lit petrol engine will be fitted with aluminium cylinder heads, light weight pistons for less weight and enhanced fuel delivery, lightweight counterbalanced crankshaft for less amount of NVH levels.
General motors (GM) plans to fit this engine for the new models of vehicles in India, which has been the key market for the company. The General motors company"s President for International Operations said there will be focus on new models to cover the global regions and for India the domestic powertrains will be top priority. The General motors plant at Talegaon has the potential to yield 1.6 lakh annual units of products and the consecutive phase of production will yield 1.4 lakh units making the tally to 3 lakh annual units.
