General Motors's Chevrolet To Get Smart In Feb

General Motors"s (GM) launch of “Smartech engine" for its Chevrolet Beat is scheduled for this month. Currently, being as the most preferred among Chevrolet brands, the car is running on localized engine. This engine, of 1.2 lit is a creation of General Motors Technical Centre India in Bangalore under the guidance of General Motors"s Talegaon plant.

The company"s General Motors and MD said the diesel version of the same Chevrolet car engine is in the offing and may be launched in 2012. In addition there will be new LCVs by the end of this year or the beginning of the next year. Besides, the Halol plant will be upgraded for the capacity to one lakh from the current 85000 annual units, he added. The General Motors company has posted a growth of 60% in 2010 amidst the industry"s growth of 60% and has already invested Rs 5000 crores for expansion spree to develop its strategies in the market. He said the company is committed to satisfy the customers at all means.
