Ford Ikon To Remain Only As An Icon

The production of the iconic branded car from Ford India has been withdrawn after the thumping presence in the market for more than 11 years. This comes after the decision not to go ahead with the production of BS IV version and the availability of BS III versions in II and III Tier cities.

Ford"s MD for India said the production of Ikon has ceased to exist and there would be no more production of this darling of the tour operators. The initial Ikon came with a ROCAM engine in petrol version and followed by a diesel version with TDCi engine in addition to Ikon Flair CNG version in India in 2010.

This is similar to the launch of Ford Fiesta Classic in India much before the global launch. The Chennai facility of Ford manufactures its premium models, Figo, Fiesta Classic, Endeavour SUV.
