The company launched its Focus at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas preceding the Detroi show next week. Ford Focus electric comes with a 28kWh lithium battery to fuel a speed limit of 84mph, at a single recharge from 240v for three hours. This accounts for 50% of the consumption made by Nissan Leaf while the major car maker is trying to increase it to 100mph. The company claims that the operational features found in normal Focus are retained in this electric version- steering, handling and braking- except the refined aerodynamics and quieter cabin courtesy electric powertrain. For those in need of run on entertainment, this Ford Focus Electric has MyFord Touch infotainment. This has a smart satellite navigation system for indicating the current charge level and the features embarking eco-friendly driving. The option to control on remote is ably done with the help this mobile app, to indicate charging details like level, need for charging and the conclusion of charging.
The major car maker is in a tie-up with Microsoft for devising the value charging system for better fueling of the car during the cheapest time. In addition the company is in search of utility organizations for charging on the national grids. The company will pen its decision of Europe version of Focus Electric to be designed in Michigan. The official launch will be in the US in 2011 to be followed in Europe in the succeeding year. The car company has initiated the trial of the previous generation Focus Electric in London to have an idea for the Euro launch. Focus will now join the company's elite group of alternative fuel cars- Transit Connect hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions C-Max and the ensuing next generation hybrid.
