Ford India Is 300% Proud!

Ford India has got some cheers to spread in its Indian operations as it could muster a growth of 300% in the last year. The volume was enhanced by the mammoth sales of its small car Figo in particular from the state of Gujarat which contributed 300% of the net growth rate while the nationwide growth rate was 184%. The company"s VP for marketing said the state could constitute a major chunk with 28% but could not disclose the exact number of units. The dealer in Ahmedabad got 1500 Figo sales and the company"s net sales in January peaked to 10000 units, a record setting feat for Ford India.

Figo comprised 8600 units of this volume, he added, and has already fetched so many credits and laurels from all corners. Ford India has currently appointed 10 service points in Gujarat and there will be more dealers in the state in the footsteps of 120 in 2009 t0 170 in 2010 and maybe 200 in 2011. He said the net growth rate of the industry in 2010 was by 36% in which passenger vehicles got 31% growth of which Ford India fetched 184% with 84000 units in 2010 from 30000 units in the previous year.

In addition the company is aiming to launch the new Fiesta sedan this year to add momentum for its ranges. Fiesta is to be the second prominent launch from Ford India after the successful run of Figo launched a year ago. Fiesta marks the company policy of introducing a new model for every 12-18 months of operation.
