Eicher Sale Outlets In India

The well known truck and bus manufacturer in the Indian auto market, Eicher Motors is on the verge of going on its own marketing deals by having its own sale outlets. The move will find the company retailing its branded products through the sale outlets in the country. For Eicher, India is the most potential market for its commercial products and is on the market under a JV with the Swedish company VE Commercial Vehicle Ltd (Volvo) for the past two years. The reports on having own sale outlets were disclosed by the company"s CEO who said that Eicher would involve itself in expanding its activities through the internal resources as and when needed. The areas and regions which have been hitherto unrepresented will have the say, he added.

The existing dealer network comprising 200 will be increased to 225 in this calendar year, he said, and will capitalize on and focus on the customer with the Swedish alliance. For the product ranges, Eicher is looking for new items in the heavy duty trucks under 16-40 tonne capacity range. The Terra series under 25-tonne category is expected for launch during the Q1 of this year followed by low-floor buses in the first half of 2011.

The Volvo technology based trucks are slated for launch for the next year to be fit for the exclusive utility for the Indian conditions. With these launches, the company is devising to increase is sale capacity by 25% to 60000 units in a year time at an investment of Rs500 crore for the period 2011-12. This investment will also enable Volvo for erecting its own paint shop and a major portion will be allotted for the R&D structure in Madhya Pradesh. Eicher intends to exploit the growing truck and bus market - 47% with 1.94 units- during April-November 2011. For the current FY, the company"s target is Rs3700 crore from Rs 2200 crore achieved in the previous year. The company faced a fall during 2008 on the event of economy downfall.
