BMW To Sell Used Cars

German Luxury carmaker BMW has announced its entry into the used car market. The pre-owned car market is a sector that BMW considers to have much potential. It believes there are more than enough customers who would like to own a BMW car. BMW's pre-owned car business will become operational in September. BMW will also be providing the BMW Secured Advance facilities to its used car customers as well.

BMW India President Andreas Schaaf while making the announcement said: “There is a huge potential in pre-owned car market in India and its a very lucrative business for us. Therefore, BMW India is planning to set up its pre-owned car selling business in September this year. We are in the last phase of the planning process to set up this business for India and only one module is left for the completion. The final draft will be ready after the summer break. We are manufacturing and assembling BMW cars from 2007 and feel that we have enough opportunities to focus on this pre-owned car market."

Mr Schaaf noted that major metropolitan cities will play a major role in the growing premium car sector. Speaking about the carmaker's plans to expand its dealers, he said: “Luxury car business is a network business. BMW is very keen to choose right partners for network development. We are planning to give at least 40 dealerships by the end of 2012."
