BMW To Triple Dealers Network In India

BMW has been dependent on Delhi and Mumbai to boost its sales. Its current plan indicates the luxury carmaker is keen to reduce this dependence. BMW India president Andreas Schaaf while speaking to reporters said: “Once this is done, the share of Delhi and Mumbai would come down to 40 percent (from 60 percent currently) and we would look for increasing sales from other regions. We plan to have 40 centres within the next one and a half years. Further, it is to expand to 60 facilities by 2015."
The latest BMW dealer was opened at Goa and the event was attended by the BMW India president. Mr Schaaf said the company was not looking at traditional dealers and added it preferred like minded dealers who concur with BMW's philosophy. BMW considers the Indian luxury car market as one of its primary growth engines as the luxury car sector is still in its nascent stage. BMW is planning to expand its production facility in Chennai to meet expanding demand. Mr Schaaf said the luxury car market in India would increase to 1,50,000 units a year by 2020.
