Bajaj's Small Car Prototype For Renault

The second largest two wheeler company in India, Bajaj Auto is on the top gear to introduce the prototype of its small car meant for Renault marketing. This Ultra Low Cost small car is to be showcased at any time this year and moves are on fast track, said its MD. The car is to be designed as per the specifications meant by the CEO of Renault-Nissan as Bajaj got the nod for designing and manufacturing this car in India. The marketing task will be carried out by Renault and the MD said he was happy to convince the CEO as for the design specifications. He said there has been no hidden agenda between the CEO and himself and everything went off smoothly. It is Renault to decide its part after the commercial launch of the small car which will be pitted against Tata Nano at the price tag of Rs1.5 lakhs.

Mr Bajaj said he would be happy if Renault is quite convinced with the design of the car. He was very particular that there could be rejection from Renault only if the car goes against the brand image. Even if Renault rejects this ULC, Bajaj would go along with its own car and thereafter would not design cars to suit anybody"s taste. He would take the matter as serious since the product would co me as a result of three years" toil. Further, he said he could not see any valid reason to convince the shareholders.

The car is almost to base on the motorcycle mindset that made Bajaj to design the car to deliver 30km/ lit fuel efficiency. The car will come off overcoming several webbed stories against it.
