Automobile Production In Japan Facing Problems

The recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan has overturned the routine affairs of many manufacturers of automobiles. Many of them depend much on Japan for the spare parts and components and they are in wary of continued production stint because of the shortage.

Toyota is trying its effort to revive the production in all its 18 assembly units in Japan at least by 50% from April 18-April 27. From April 28 the plants will be closed to mark the usual Golden Week in Japan. The company is facing crisis with the parts lagging and said it is not sure of the exact time of resuming normalcy.

Nissan said it is planning for resumption of production in its 5 units in homeland from today at half capacity. Meanwhile GM is closing its Texas plant( the one which takes care of SUVs) quoting the shortage of spares. Chrysler Group too withdrawn its activities in its Brampton plant which constructs its Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300. The majority of global auto makers and the Japan companies are facing manufacture crisis due to the non-availability of Xirallic-oriented paints. These paints are exclusive products from Japan which has since been on closure since the earthquake.
