Audi's New Sales Strategy For India

With the sale figure expected to rise by 10% the German car maker Audi is coming out with its new sales strategies to sell 30000 units by this decade end making Asian market into the top ten markets in the world. To meet these sort of sales targets, the company is initiating with the launch of a new hatchback A1, the ensuing SUV Q3 and A3 concept sedan. In addition there will be a launch of a new model and two new variants in the Indian market during this year. Audi"s AG Board Member said by 2020, there could be a sales volume of 25000-30000 units in the Indian market to reach the feat of top ten. In India the company"s wholly owned subsidiary Audi India sold about 3003 units during 2010 making a rise of 81% from its previous year"s. The projection for this year is 4500 units which may become 15000 units by 2015 he added.

There could be model line up especially global ones, meeting the demand to reach these figures, he said further. To start with there could be launch of A1, A3 and Q3 in the Indian market during the coming 12-15 months, he said, and of these, A1 and Q3 will be volume builders. There will be the launch of its sedan A7 in India this year in addition to A6 and a variant of R8 sports version. With this the entire family of RS family sports may be imported into India, he said. For the global market, Audi is launching its hybrid version of SUV Q5 in India and this may be at any time in near future. The company"s AG Board Member said as of now there has been no plans for installing any Audi R&D centre in India but the focus is on the increased volumes. He cited the difference between China and India as the latter market is keen on lower segment of the car while China has the growth for the upper segment of the cars. Ford has sold 2.28 lakh units in China during 2010.
