Audi Considering New Car Launches

German carmaker Audi is contemplating if it should expand its product line-up in India. The new cars that Audi is considering are the A1 hatchback, Q3 SUV and the A6 sedan. Audi India's foray in to the lucrative small car market in India will be an interesting case. Audi's new cars will surely generate a buzz in India as they offer both good looks and performance.

The A1 hatchback is Audi's entry level small car and yet it has several luxury features, The A1 hatchback is available in several international markets. Although the A1 is built on the Volkswagen Polo's platform and is powered by the same engines as found in the VW Polo, the A1 has garnered a niche clientèle due to its beautiful design and interior finish. It remains to be seen how the Indian car buyer will respond to the Audi A1 which carries a sizeable price premium over the VW Polo.

Another model that Audi is considering for India is the new A3 sedan. The A3 is expected to be priced around Rs. 20 lakh. Audi India sales chief Mr Anil Reddy has confirmed that the Q3 SUV and the redesigned A6 sedan would be launched in India during the fourth quarter of this year. Audi India has been pleasantly surprised by the two fold increase in sales in May in India and it wants to take advantage of the current consumer interest and attract more buyers. The carmaker plans to expand its dealer network in India. Audi's new models will add to the carmaker's improving profile in India.
