Audi India Launches A7 Sportback and RS5 Coupe
The Audi A7 Sportback is a five-door sport coupe offering luxury and sporty performance. The Audi RS5 coupe is two-door sports car powered by a 450bhp 4.2-litre petrol engine. It can accelerate to 100km/k within just 4.2 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 280km/h.The RS5 is based on the Audi A5 coupe. The usage of an aluminium space frame has meant the RS% is lighter than the A5 by 110 kilos, providing greater performance.The Audi RS5 will compete against the BMW M3 and is targetted at young drivers. The RS5 is Audi's latest performance model and joins other performance models such as the RS3, RS4 and the RS6.
Michael Perschke, head of Audi India said the company would further enhance its product portfolio. He said: "We will introduce the A6 sedan in August this year and Q3 sports utility vehicle next year." Audi India which intended to sell 4,500 models this year has increased its expected sales figure to 5,000 units. It has already recieved 80 pre-launch bookings for the A7 Sportback and it expects to sell about 200 models this year. The company has set itself a target of selling 30 to 40 RS5 sports cars.
Mr Perschke has ruled out the launch of Audi's A1 small car in India. The german carmaker's main competitors in India - BMW and Mercedes have announced plans to launch their respective small cars. Audi believes its sedan range will be a better option to boost sales. Audi is alreadt the leading seller of luxury SUVs with its Q7. The launch of the Q3 luxury SUV in 2012 will definitely boost its market leading position in the Luxury SUV sector.
