Ashok Leyland Launches Dost Commercial Vehicle

The Ashok Leyland Dost will be built at Ashok Leyland's manufacturing facility in Hosur. The Dost is a 1.25 tonne commercial vehicle that will compete with the likes of the Tata Ace and Mahindra Genio and Maxximo. The new Dost's commercial launch is expected to be held some time this quarter.
The Ashok Leyland Dost is touted to offer contemporary technology and promises to provide customers with a new experience. Powered by a 55bhp three-cylinder engine the Dost offers substantial performance. It has a roomy and spacious cabin which has an European designed interior.
The Askok Leyland Dost is Nissan's first venture in the Indian commercial vehicle sector. The Dost is a inspired combination of Japanese technology from Nissan and the low cost production sensibilities of Ashok Leyland. Expected to be launched in both BS III and BS IV versions, the Dost is expected to hit the market any time this quarter.
Speaking during the unveiling of the Dost, Andy Palmer, Executive Vice-President of Nissan Motor Company, said Nissan, a leader in LCV globally, couldn't have produced Dost on its own. V. Sumantran, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Hinduja Automotive Ltd. and also Chairman of Nissan Ashok Leyland Powertrains Ltd said: “It's a landmark product for Ashok Leyland."
Ashok Leyland will set up new dealerships to hand\le the sales of its commercial vehicles. Since buyers of vehicles such as the Dost are small business men and entrepreneurs, the company has decided to widen its network of service centres.
