Toyota Opens For Diesel Etios Unofficially

There have been several sightings of the diesel variant of the Etios Liva while it was being tested in Bangalore. Toyota has two manufacturing plans in Bangalore in which it builds the Corolla Altis, Fortuner, Innova along with the Etios and the Liva.
The diesel variants of the Etios and the Etios Liva are speculated to be unveiled on 9th September. Media reports state Toyota will unveil three diesel variants of the Etios sedan and two variants of the Etios Liva.
If recent media reports in the domestic markets are to be believed, the dealers of Japanese auto giant Toyota have started unofficial bookings of the upcoming diesel versions of the sedan Etios and hatchback Liva. Both Etios and Liva are speculated to hit the Indian roads on 9th of September.
The Etios Liva will reportedly be powered by a 1.4-litre turbo diesel engine that can churn out 75bhp. Bookings for the diesel Etios and Etios Liva are reportedly open with an initial payment of Rs.50,000. Some recent news reports claim that the bookings for both of these diesel version models are open unofficially at an initial payment of Rs.50,000.
Toyota appears to have hastened the launch of the diesel variants of the Etios and Liva as both these models struggled to match sales of their competitors as they did not have a diesel engine. The Volkswagen Polo and Vento, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Swift Dzire, Ford Polo and Chevrolet Beat all come with both petrol and diesel engines.
