Maruti Suzuki Confirms Gujarat Car Plant

Mr Mode has expressed happiness at Maruti Suzuki's decision and has described it as a new year gift to the western Indian state. In his twitter account, Narendra Modi has stated: “"I welcome Maruti Suzuki's decision to come to Gujarat. Gujarat is moving ahead fast as Asia's auto hub. With Maruti, the pace will accelerate. It's Gujarat's new year and this is Maruti's gift to Gujarat on this occasion."
Maruti Suzuki has stated the new plant will attract an investment of more than Rs.18,000. The carmaker has sought 500 acres of land for the plant an another 500 acres for its vendors. Reports say Maruti Suzuki is in the look out of a total 1,400 acres for its plant and parts makers. In all likelihood, Maruti Suzuki will get any amount of land it requires. The car plant is expected to have annual production capacity of about 2 million units.
Gujarat has emerged as a growing auto hub in India in the past ten years. The only carmaker present in the state before this was General Motors. Now the western Indian state ha the Tat Nano plant in Sanand, Ford has already started construction of its plant and french carmaker Peugeot has also expressed its desire to build its plant in Gujarat.
Maruti Suzuki's decision to move to Gujarat also highlights the impact of the strikes in its Manesar plants. The carmaker has faced severe losses due to these labour unrests and wants to reduce the impact of such instances by moving some production outside Haryana.
