Maruti Panning To Double Showrooms By 2015

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker by sales is planning to consolidate its position in the face of increasing competition. Maruti Suzuki in a statement yesterday has announced plans to double its sales network and showrooms by 2015. The focus will be on small towns and cities.

Maruti Suzuki which opened its 1,000th showroom in Surat, Gujarat is aiming at tier II and tier III cities to boost its sales across the country. In a statement, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said: “Network expansion is strategic to our business and we would continue to focus on it. We target to double our sales network in next five years, in line with the company's sales plan."

Maruti Suzuki will also be upgrading its existing showrooms under a project called 'Nav Nirman'. Showrooms will be spruced up and the focus will be on providing customers with a uniform buying experience across the country.

Maruti Suzuki which is facing a month long strike at its Manesar plant has restarted production of all cars in the plant. While it built 690 Swifts on Thursday, the company also built 60 A-Stars and SX4 sedans. In a separate statement on the production, Maruti Suzuki India said: “ In the last two days, in addition to Swift, the company has also started making these two models at Manesar where focus until now remained on attaining normal production levels for Swift model."
