Hyundai Begins Eon Bookings Unofficially

Hyundai Motors' dealers have unofficially started taking bookings for the new Eon small car according to reports from our corespondent in Chennai. The Hyundai Eon also called as the H800 is expected to be launched in India on 14th October but dealers have already begun talking to customers about the new small car.

The Hyundai Eon will be taking on Maruti Suzuki's entry level car, the Alto. It is quite surprising that Hyundai dealers have started taking bookings of the Eon about 15 days before its launch. Our correspondent has stated the booking rate for the Eon is varying from one Hyundai dealer to another. While one dealer stated he would book the Eon for Rs.5,000 another dealer said the booking price was Rs.25,000.

We also got to know the price of the Eon from our correspondent. The on road price of the Hyundai eon small car is reported to be Rs.3.5 lakhs for the top end model. This means the base variant will be costing much lower than Rs.3 lakhs according to our estimates.

The Hyundai Eon is being considered as a car that will take the iconic position of the Maruti 800. It is powered by a 800cc petrol engine making its claim more evident. Hyundai has also acknowledged the potential of the Eon and believes this new small car will help it bridge the gap it has with market leader Maruti Suzuki.

Maruti Suzuki is also not too far behind in terms of making a replacement for the Maruti 800. it is already developing a new small car that will be powered by a new 800 cc engine. No details about the car's name or specifications are currently available.
