Skoda Rapid: A surprise entry in this year's list of contenders for the Car of the Year award is the recently launched Skoda Rapid. The Skoda Rapid is the official replacement of the Octavia and is in fact a re-badged Volkswagen Vento. It gets the same power options as the Vento and has a slightly different exterior look. It is cheaper than its VW cousin and hence is slightly more attractive to price conscious buyers.
Toyota Etios Liva: The Etios Liva is the Japanese carmaker's first entry level hatchback. It proved Toyota can build low cost cars without loosing much of its quality. The Liva got a huge boost in sales once its diesel variants were launched.
Mahindra XUV 500: A strong contender for this year's Car of The Year award is the Mahindra XUV 500. The first Global SUV form Mahindra has the looks and the power to make its presence felt eve amongst top international car brands. It has been lapped by Indian car buyers and Mahindra had to close bookings within a week as its entire production batch of three months were sold.
Renault Fluence: Last but not the least in the list of contenders for the 2012 NDTV Profit Car & Bike Awards id Renault's premium sedan Fluence. The Fluence is Renault's first car to be launched in India after it began independent operations. It is a car that the french carmaker is hoping, will create a positive image for itself before it makes a huge push in new product launches.
