NDTV Profit Car & Bike Awards – Contenders

The 2012 NDTV Profit Car & Bike Awards is now open. The prestigious auto awards will be chosen by the most important people – you. NDTV has opened a poll for people to chose the bike of the year and the car of the year for 2012. Here is the list of contenders for the awards.

The bike of the year category has four contenders. The first one is the Bajaj Boxer 150. It is followed by the new Hero Impulse, Honda's CBR 250R and Yamaha's R15 Version 2.0. This list is quite comprehensive considering the low number of new bikes launched this year. Also it is a fine mix of consumer biking, off-roading and super bike performance.

The Boxer 150 is probably the first bike that has been specially developed for rural India and its low price has meant it has been accepted well. The Hero Impulse is Hero's first new bike after its separation from Honda. The Honda CBR 250R has been a much loved superbike and its latest version has also been a hit. The Yamaha R15 has to be credited for bringing in the super bike to the consumer and Version 2.0 has improved upon its predecessor.
