Maruti Gets Record Swift Bookings Despite Strike

New Swift
Maruti Suzuki has expressed confidence that it will be able to deliver as many new Swifts from its Manesar plant as required during the festive season despite the ongoing strike. The strike at Manesar is going on since close to a month and production has slowly picked up after the carmaker hired new workers.

Bookings for the new Swift has continued unabated despite the strike. Maruti Suzuki has received 1.08 lakh bookings for the new Swift. Maruti has said the supply of the new car will be normalised soon. In its statement the carmaker's Managing Executive Officer (Marketing and Sales) Mayank Pareek said: “ The demand for Swift is huge. It is the supply side which we had a problem in the first part of this month, but that is gradually coming to normal levels."

The carmaker had earlier announced that it had asked its dealer to stop taking new bookings. However, dealers have restarted taking bookings when production started to improve. Recent reports from Manesar say Maruti Suzuki built 700 Swifts on 24th September.

The waiting period for the Swift is one of the prime concerns of buyers and the Indian carmaker has stated the waiting period was now reducing. You can get yourself a diesel powered Swift in six months and the petrol Swift will be yours in five months. A Maruti Suzuki dealer when contacted by www.drivespark.com said the waiting period for the new Swift was still around eight months.
