GM And LG Ink Pact To Develop Electric Car

Electric Car
General Motors, the world's largest carmaker and LG, one of the leading electric appliance manufacturer have signed a deal to jointly develop electric cars. While General Motors will offer its car building expertise, LG will deliver the battery technology for electric cars.

LG is already associated with General Motors. It currently supplies the lithium-ion batteries for GM's Chevrolet Volt and Opel Ampera.

The new deal between GM and LG was signed by GM chief executive Daniel Akerson and LG President Juno Cho. The two companies have said they would work on developing a whole range of electric vehicles that will be sold across the world.

General Motors has increased its involvement with electric and hybrid cars under the leadership of Akerson. The company has said it would soon develop a plug-in hybrid for Cadillac. GM is also working on developing an all electric small car.

Several LG engineers are working with GM now and GM Engineers will be visiting LG's head quarters in Seoul, South Korea.

General Motors which was earlier famous for building large fuel gurgling trucks and SUVs was forced to develop fuel efficient vehicles after the US government bailed it out.
