BMW launches next gen X3 At Rs.41.2 Lakhs

The new BMW X3 will pose a challenge to the recently launched business edition of the Audi Q5. While the price of the X3 is slightly higher than the Q5, it compensates it by having greater interior space and a new exterior design. The previous X3 was considered too old in terms of design terms. The new model now follows the current BMW design philosophy and fits itself between the X1 and the X5.
The new BMW X3 will be imported in CKD form and will be assembled at the German carmaker's Chennai plant. Powered by a two-litre diesel engine capable of churning out184bhp and 350Nm of torque, the X3 promises to deliver performance paired with frugal mileage. For someone looking for a more powerful set up, you can opt for the three-litre diesel engine that generates258bhp and 560Nm.
The BMW X3 can accelerate from zero to 100kmph within 6.2 seconds when powered by the three-litre engine. The two diesel engines are paired with an eight speed gearbox. The new SUV also gets BMW's X-Drive all-wheel-drive system. While we do not expect the X3 to be an extreme off-roader, the X3 will perform fairly well on mild off-road trips.
The high-end version of the X3 costs Rs.47.9 lakhs. While these two variants are priced above the Audi Q5 business edition's price of Rs.35.13 lakhs, we do expect BMW to also launch a cheaper corporate version with fewer bells and whistles.
