Hyundai Suppliers Confirm H800's October Launch

Hyundai has informed its parts suppliers that it would most likely launch 800cc engined small car in October. The Korean carmaker has said the H800 could be priced at Rs.2.5 lakhs. This is a staggering price tag for a carmaker whose current cheapest car is priced at Rs.3.2 lakhs.
Hyundai Motor India is India's second largest carmaker behind Maruti Suzuki. The Korean carmaker had earlier said it would develop a new model that was focussed at rural markets. A senior official from Hyundai's supplier who did not want to be named have indicated Hyundai will begin production of the H800 in September.
The Santro is Hyundai's cheapest car sold in India. If reports about theH800's price are true, the new small car will certainly pose a challenge to the Maruti Suzuki Alto. The one advantage of the Alto is its long standing image, reliability and Maruti Suzuki's vast network of showrooms spread across India. If Hyundai manages to increase its network of showrooms in rural India, the H800 will emerge possibly as its highest selling model in India.
An official statement on the new H800 small car is yet to be made by Hyundai.
