Volkswagen's New Single Seater Electric Concept
Volkswagen has developed a new concept electric vehicle that promises zero emissions. This new single seater is an experimental car built to showcase Volkswagen's expertise in building electric cars.
JÜrgen Leohold, Volkswagen's head of research has described the single seater concept as a new kind of mobility. Since it is built only to transport one person, it is easier to reduce emissions as its weight is lower. The concept being electric means it does not directly contribute to carbon emissions. Mr. Leohold said the source of electricity will be the only possible source of emissions.

Volkswagen will unveil this new single seater concept in a few weeks. The model has already been found testing on German roads. This new concept is expected to be better than the XL1 Super Efficient Vehicle that had offered a fuel economy of 100kmpl powered by a diesel engine and hybrid set up. The carmaker has not revealed the concept's top speed, range or power.
Volkswagen which has so far been using hybrid technology across its brands also wants to take the lead in the electric car sector. While several concepts are in different stages of development, no fully electric vehicle has been launched by Volkswagen.
Volkswagen will not launch a new electric model. Instead it intends to launch an electric version of a currently sold model. The Most likely models to get fully electric power trains will be the Golf hatchback and the recently unveiled UP small car.
