Suzuki Demands Public Apology From Volkswagen

Suzuki Vs Vollswagen
Suzuki Motor Corp, the Japanese carmaker has demanded a public apology and retraction before September 30 from Volkswagen in a letter that was sent to the German carmaker yesterday. Volkswagen had accused Suzuki of breaching the terms of its alliance when Suzuki decided to buy diesel engines from Fiat instead of Volkswagen.

Suzuki chairman Osamu Suzuki has addressed his letter to Volkswagen's CEO Martin Winterkorn and has expressed his reservations about the German carmaker's accusations.

Mr Suzuki is quoted to have written: “Since Suzuki's global reputation has been significantly damaged by the announcement made by Volkswagen, we have requested Volkswagen to revoke its notice claiming that Suzuki is in breach of the Framework Agreement and to publicly announce such revocation by September 30,"

The two carmakers have been in a month long struggle after Suzuki's deal with Fiat. Volkswagen had expected Suzuki would buy diesel engines from it as it was its alliance partner. When it accused Suzuki of breaching the terms of its alliance, Suzuki responded angrily and has even said it intended to end its alliance with Volkswagen.

Volkswagen on its part has said it did not want to end its alliance with Suzuki. However a senior executive from the German carmaker has reportedly told a German magazine the VW was planning a forced takeover if the issue was not settled amicably.
