Maruti Shrinks New DZire To Cut Price

Swift DZire
Maruti Suzuki has begun trial production of the soon to be unveiled new Swift DZire. The Indian carmaker had earlier reported that the new DZire will be shorter that the current model. IN fact the new DZire will no longer be a mid level sedan, rather a compact sedan as Maruti has shrink the length of the DZire to just 3.99 metres.

The New Swift will be built on the same platform of the new Swift. It will also have the same design inputs for the front along with engine specifications. Maruti Suzuki decision to reduce the DZire's length is to reduce the weight that will improve its mileage.

Another reason for decreasing the DZire's length below four metres is due to the fact that the excise duty on cars less that this length is lower than cars that are longer than four metres. This will ensure the new Dzire's price will not be too high. We expect the new sub compact DZire to be actually cheaper than the current model.

The new sub compact DZire is expected to be displayed in Delhi at the 2012 Auto Expo. The carmaker had earlier said the new DZire will be launched within six months of the launch of the new Swift.

We at www.drivespark.com are concerned about the strike at Maruti's Manesar plant. The new Swift DZire is scheduled to be produced here and there is no signs of any improvement. If the waiting period for the Swift continues to be long, the carmaker might decide to postpone the launch of the new sub compact sedan to the market.
