Mahindra Reva NXR's Mileage To Shock Petrol Cars

The Reva NXR has an improved range of 160 kilometres per charge and and comfortable space for four adults unlike the limited space available in the current model. Further' the car has an improved top speed of 100kmph.
Chetan Maini, chief of technology and strategy, Mahindra Reva while speaking about the Reva NXR said that it was the best time to launch an electric car that offered cheap transport in the wake of increasing petrol prices. He said: “Consumers who spend Rs 7,000-8,000 every month on petrol are more interested than ever in alternate fuel technology. The Reva NXR is a huge improvement over the existing model and it will surely get the market excited."
The NXR was fist displayed at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show and will now have a full display in India during the forthcoming Delhi Auto Expo. The NXR has been designed by renowned car designer Dilip Chhabria, better known for his modifications for various cars.
The running cost of the Reva NXR is very low compared to even the most fuel efficient petrol car in India. According to Mahindra Reva, the NXR will run for 3.2 kilometres per rupee or 9.6 kilometres for Rs.3 (which is the cost of one unit of power). A petrol car such as the Tata Nano or the Indica ev2 with a mileage of 25kmpl will require a person to spend Rs.3 per kilometre. But in the NXR for the same Rs.3 you get to travel 9.6 kilometres.
Mahindra has not revealed the pricing details of the NXR. Company sources say they intend to keep the price of the NXR reasonable.
