Nissan Set To Launch NV 200 In August 2012
The NV 200 will be eventually launched in August 2012. Commercial production of the MUV is expected to begin later next year with Nissan's joint venture partner Ashok Leyland pitching in. The NV 200 might be launched with the same name or with a different name according to sources.
The Nissan MUV will compete with MUVs such as the Toyota Innova and the Tata Aria. Ashok Leyland is likely to build the MUV at its plant near Chennai. This will be the second model from the joint venture after the Ashok Leyland Dost commercial vehicle.
Nissan has said it has a production capacity of two lakh units in its plant in Chennai and is planning to increase it further. About 80 per cent of the vehicles produced here are exported. The NV 200 might also be exported to some Asian countries in the neighborhood.
