Fiat Shocker: No New Models Until 2014

Fiat currently sells the Punto, Linea and the Stallio Stile in India. We have to make do with possible model updates and improved variants until a new Fiat is launched.By announcing that it will not launch no new models in the next three years, Fiat India has virtually knocked itself down. We were expecting Fiat to make a huge dash for a larger market share in India by launching a whole new set of cars as it attempts to establish its own dealer network.
Fiat India's managing director Rajeev Kapoor has confirmed the carmakers plan. He said: “We are working on a new product that will be launched in 2014. No new models will be launched until then. We will currently focus on improving the brand image of Fiat in India and will look at highlighting the the Italian-ness of Fiat."
Fiat also intends to improve its network of service stations across the country. Despite having a better vehicles in their respective sectors, Fiat is yet to reach expected sales levels mostly due to the lack of a wide spread service network and shabby sales experience to customers at showrooms.
Fiat's cars are currently sold along with Tata Motors cars in showrooms. This showroom sharing ha not worked out to Fiat as customers prefer to buy cheaper Tata Models. Fiat India has said it will now ask all its dealers to open new Fiat showrooms at a separate location.
