Nissan Sunny Launched at Just Rs.5.78 Lakhs

Nissan Motors India, the Japanese carmaker has launched the new Sunny mid level sedan in India at a ceremony in Mumbai. The all important information that was not available until today was the Sunny's price. Nissan has said the Sunny will be available at showrooms with a starting price of Rs.5.78 lakhs for the base XE model.

The mid-level sedan's mid-range model, the XL has a starting price of Rs.6.69 lakhs while the top end XV carries a price tag of RS.7.68 lakhs. The Nissan Sunny is powered by a 1.5-litre 97bhp engine that delivers 134Nm of torque. The power and torque figures are comparatively lower than that of the Ford Fiesta, Honda City or the Hyundai Verna.

Nissan has said bookings will be open from today and deliveries will begin from 3rd October. Speaking at the Sunny's Launch, Nissan India chief Kiminobu Tokuyoma has said the company believed in offering Indian customers what they want and had worked on their requirements. He said: “The new Sunny is a sedan that has been made in India for India. The Sunny has been a successful model for Nissan since more than four and half decades and it enters its tenth generation today."

Mr Tokuyoma described the Sunny as a new Landmark for Nissan India. While speaking to reporters he added the Sunny had high localisation with 90 per cent of its parts being procured from within India.
