R C Bhargava
The strike at Maruti Suzuki entered the 14th day today even as marathon talks between MSI management, workers and Haryana Labour Department officials continued over night. The talks started yesterday morning at it continued overnight. The Haryana government is trying everything possible to resolve this issue.

A Maruti Suzuki India spokesperson said talks will continue today and expressed hope of an agreement being signed by the end of today. The Haryana Labour Department is brokering the talks.

Maruti Suzuki started partial production at Manesar with the workers who had not joined the strike. The carmaker said it produced 200 cars yesterday. The Manesar plant usually produced about 1,000 cars a day. This 80 per cent drop in production means Maruti Suzuki will have to deal with a long waiting list and disgruntled customers.

Meanwhile Maruti Suzuki India chairman R C Bharghava has said he expected the production impasse to en within 4-5 days. He said: "We have been talking to them for the last three days. We keep talking as a solution to these things takes some time. I cannot say when, but only I can hope that the issues will be solved in the next 4-5 days."
