Audi to Hire 600 More: Expand Showrooms

Audi, the German premium carmaker is looking to overtake BMW and Mercedes-Benz and become India"s highest selling premium carmaker. The company has said it would be creating 600 new jobs in India and would expand its dealer network to 25 by the end of 2012.

India has emerged as Audi"s fastest growing international market. Audi has so far registered a 95 per cent increase in sales this year and has set itself a target of selling 5,000 cars by the end of this calendar year. Audi India chief Michael Perschke while speaking about the new jobs has said: “We will be hiring at least 600 more people and raising dealerships to 25 by the end of 2012.We will also enhance our portfolio by launching the Q3 model next year.

Mr. Perschke has also said the company was confident it would become India"s Number One premium carmaker by 2015. Audi joining the race seriously makes the situation interesting considering Mercedes-Benz"s move to regain its top spot that was snatched by BMW in 2009. Mercedes-Benz has also said it wanted to regain its Number one position by 2015.

Audi is India"s best selling premium SUV maker with its Q7 and Q5. The German carmaker has also claimed it is also India"s top sports car seller with its R8. Audi recently brought the R8 V10 as well as the R8 convertible to the Indian market. Audi is Volkswagen Group"s premium car brand and it is a significant contributor to VW"s dreams of becoming the world"s number one carmaker by 2018.
