If You Can’t Wait For New Swift, Buy The Old Swift

Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti Suzuki dealers who were not able to sell all their inventory of the old swift before the launch of the new swift were a worried lot. But the strike at Manesar and the resultant long waiting period for the new car has come as a blessing in disguise to these dealers. A Maruti Suzuki dealer who did not wished to be named has said they were now suggesting people who wanted to buy the new Swift to opt for the old model.

The dealer said: “There might be several cosmetic and design changes in the new swift when compared with the previous model. But the engine remains the same. Further, the old swift is available off the counter and there is no waiting period. The price of the old Swift is also lower than the current model and it will retain its resale value despite the launch of the new model. “

The dealer also said: “A Maruti Suzuki car will offer the cheapest maintenance and running costs. Buying an old Swift is a better choice than opting for a car from another carmaker. Demand for the old Swift had come down just before the launch of the new model but it is now picking up following the strike."

The strike at Maruti Suzuki"s Manesar plant meant the production of the new Swift came down drastically. This meant, deliveries of the new Swift were delayed by as much as eight months. Maruti dealers stopped receiving bookings of the recently launched hatchback. However the dealer this reporter spoke to said they were continuing to receive bookings for the swift but were informing buyers that they might have to wait longer than eight months.
