More Jaguars & Land Rovers Will Be Made In India

Land Rover launched the Range Rover Evoque earlier last month. The premium SUV has a starting price of Rs. 44.75 Lakhs. The price can be considered a little expensive for a premium SUV considering a similar model from Audi, Mercedes-Benz or BMW would cost at least a couple of lakhs lower. This has made JLR realize it must produce more models in India.
Jaguar and Land Rover is now aiming to capture about 20 per cent of market share in India's luxury car market. Confirming JLR's plans to increase production in India, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India Head of Premier Car Division Rohit Suri said: “If there is a business case, we will consider assembling more models, even including the Jaguar cars, in India."
There has been no confirmation on which models Jaguar and Land Rover were considering for Indian production. The only model being assembled in India is the Freelander 2 SUV. There have been reports that the Jaguar XF's diesel variant will be built in India soon.
Jaguar and Land Rover have been Tata Motors biggest overseas investments. The two brands now consider India as their second home market and want to create a huge presence by improving sales. However this can only be achieved if its models are placed at least competitively with competition.
