Maruti Unveils New Swift In Bangalore

Maruti Suzuki India, which on Wednesday, Aug 17th launched the new Swift hatchback unveiled its latest model in Bangalore on 18th. Pankaj Narula Executive Officer (service), Maruti Suzuki formally unveiled the new Swift. The new Swift is longer and wider than its predecessor. This added size has aided in improving the car's interior space as well as storage space.

The Bangalore launch of the new Swift was attended by Maruti Suzuki's dealers, company executives and media persons. A senior company executive while speaking with this reporter said: “The new Swift is a result of Maruti Suzuki and its suppliers investing Rs.550 crores and the results are here to see. The new Swift is now more Swift."

Maruti Suzuki is building the new Swift on an all new platform. The carmaker has focussed on improving the performance and dynamics of the new Swift and has retained the Swift's design DNA. Maruti Suzuki has said the new Swift is more fuel efficient. While the petrol version gets 4 per cent decrease in fuel consumption at 18.6kmpl, the diesel variant's fuel economy is better by 6 per cent at 22.9 kmpl.

Swift Launch
The new Swift continues to be the best in terms of performance among premium hatch backs. The petrol variant can accelerate to 100kmph within 12.6 seconds while the diesel variant requires 14.8 seconds to get to the same speed. Maruti Suzuki has said the in gear acceleration continues to be the hallmark of the Swift.

Maruti Suzuki is confident that the new Swift will be able to match the huge expectations of car buyers. We had earlier reported that the new Swift had received more than 50,000 bookings even before the launch. The new Swift is loaded with several premium features such as tilt steering, sport black interiors, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, 15-inch alloy wheels and keyless entry.

The carmaker has said the new swift gets more than 140 new features despite retaining the same engines which have been tweaked to deliver more fuel economy. It also has a plastic fuel tank that will reduce weight which in turn aids in improving fuel economy.

The new Maruti Suzuki Swift is only slightly more expensive than its predecessor despite getting several new features. Below are the ex-showroom prices of the six variants of the new Swift in Bangalore.

Petrol:
LXi: Rs.4.39 lakhs
VXi: Rs.4.79 lakhs
ZXi: Rs.5.63 lakhs

Diesel:

LDi: Rs.5.16 lakhs
VDi: Rs.5.66 lakhs
ZDi: Rs.6.48 lakhs
