Honda Launches New Jazz At Just Rs.5.5 Lakhs!

HSCI Director (Marketing) Seki Inaba while speaking to media persons said: “ During the first couple of years, the company has focused a lot on localisation and cost-down activities through the R&D function in India. The new Jazz with attractive pricing will surely appeal to the customers and expand the base of Jazz"
The new Jazz will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that is touted to deliver a fuel economy of 16.7 kmpl. The four-cylinder engine is capable of generating 90bhp at 6200rpm and 110Nm at 4800rpm. Honda has said the maintenance costs and the fuel economy has improved considerably.
Honda has said the base version of the new Jazz will get alloy wheels and fog lamps. However it will not be having driver seat height adjust and power retract feature for rear view mirrors. However Honda has not compromised on the safety equipment in the Jazz. The base variant comes loaded with safety features like Dual front Airbags, ABS with Brake assist and EBD.
The mid-range Jazz Select will get alloy wheels and the Jazz X will get much more. Honda seems to be heading straight at market leader Swift with the number of features in the Jazz. Even the base variant of the Jazz has more features than the base Maruti Swift Lxi.
The Jazz was initially priced between Rs.7.12 lakhs and Rs.7.56 lakhs when it was launched in 2009. Recent sales of the Jazz fell dramatically after the petrol price hike. The unavailability of a diesel engine also hurt the Jazz's prospects. Honda was then forced to announce a Rs.1.75 lakh discount to the old Jazz to clear its inventory.
