Hyundai Bookings Cross 5,000 Units In Five Days
The Eon is the latest small car to be launched in India. Developed, designed and built exclusively for India, the Eon is Hyundai's step for the future. It has been priced competitively with a starting price of RS. 2.6 lakh 9ex showroom, Chennai) and it is expected to take on Maruti Suzuki's Alto.
Bookings for the Hyundai Eon started even before it was unveiled in India. We had earlier reported about how Hyundai dealers had started bookings unofficially. Hence the bookings of 5,000 units could be a sum total of bookings before and after the Eon's launch. All in all these bookings are quite a positive result for a car that has been launched for the first time.
The Eon is acar that will provide a new direction to Hyundai. It's price and the carmaker's plans to expand showrooms in tier II and Tier III cities will take it closer to India's rural car market and will help Hyundai bridge the gap it has with smaller markets.
Hyundai Motors India is planning to expand its annual production capacity in India by 40,000 units in a year. Mr Park has said Hyundai would consider another car plant in India if sales increase. It will also launch ten new model by the year 2015 to cement its place in India. Mr Park also said the carmaker was planning to sell the Eon in South America and South Africa.
