Tata Safari Merlin Set For September 27th Launch
There have been several sightings and spy shots of the Safari Merlin. The new Tata Merlin SUV as Tata Motors would want to call it has finally been seen without any covers or body claddings. The basic design of the Merlin appears to be inspired by several Land Rovers. The flared headlights, flat front and rear ends clearly show a prominent land rover like design.
That means the Merlin SUV should be a class act. Although the images on the Merlin on the internet are shady, we shall have a better look at it when it will be launched according to speculations on the 27th of September.
The Merlin will not be replacing the Safari, rather it will be placed above the Safari making it the mid level SUV from Tata Motors just below the Aria. However, the Merlin will retain the same 2.2-litre Dicor engine that is now available in the Safari. The oil burner will churn out 140bhp and 320Nm of torque.
The interiors might also get a land rover like feel. The seven seat layout will retained making the Merlin a more practical SUV that five seaters such as the Fortuner and the Honda CRV.
While some reports say the Tata Merlin will be launched on September 27th while others say the launch will be delayed until the India Auto Expo to be held in January next year.
