Maruti Suzuki Unveils The New Swift At 4.22 Lakhs

Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi who unveiled the new Swift said: “ We have launched the new Swift at a time when there was a significant demand for the outgoing model. I am confident that the new Swift will create new benchmarks with its improved fuel efficiency, stylish and sportier looks and high performance."
We can now officially say the new Swift has retained the round curvy look of the current model. The only visual difference can be identified in the headlights and the tail lights that appear to be stretched. The 40mm increase in the length of the new Swift is not very evident. You will be able to make out the difference only when the current and the new Swifts are placed next to each other.
As far as the technical specifications of the new Swift are concerned Maruti Suzuki India has retained the K-Series 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines. The petrol engine can generate 87bhp at 6000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The 1.3-litre DdiS diesel engine is capable of churning out 75bhp at 4000rpm and 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm. Both these engines will be mated to a five speed manual gear box.
The New Swift comes equipped with ABS, dual SRS airbags and braking with a Boost Assist System (BAS). Maruti Suzuki has also increased the torsional rigidity of the Swift. Further the carmaker has replaced the current Swift's metal fuel tank with a plastic one to reduce weight.
The Swift is one of Maruti Suzuki's most successful models since its launch six years ago. The Indian carmaker has already sold six lakh units of the Swift. With bookings for the new Swift breaching the 40,000 mark, the carmaker is expecting to sell many more models of the latest version. Maruti Suzuki is expected to follow the launch of the new Swift with the sedan version, the Swift DZire within the next six to eight months.
