Maruti's Innova Rival Ertiga Coming This January
Between the two events, the RIII concept has got a new name and a look that is closer to the actual production model. The RIII had innovative coach doors, stylish seats and cool interiors. The Ertiga on the other hand will have a more sedate look with regular doors for the middle compartment.
The size and the seating capacity indicate the Ertiga will be a direct competitor of the Toyota Innova. The Innova has been a market leader in this segment from the year it was launched. It did not face huge competition from models such as the Chevrolet Tavera and the Mahindra Xylo. Maruti Suzuki is expecting to make a dash at the top spot with the Ertiga.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been developed to offer the best possible mobility for a large family. With seven seats spread across the cabin, the Ertiga promises to have lot of space. To challenge the dominance of the Innova, Maruti Suzuki is expected to keep the Ertiga's price within the RS.6-9 lakhs range. The Toyota Innova on the other hand is priced at RS.9.7 lakhs for the entry level model.
The powertrain options for the Ertiga will be both petrol and engine. The diesel engine will be the now familiar 1.3-litre turbo diesel engine found in the SX4. The petrol engine is expected to be from the K-Series engine family.
