Suzuki's 36kmpl wonder Regina Unveiled In Tokyo

The concept car that we are talking about is the Suzuki Regina. This new two door four seater hatchback that is eye catching and has a several design features that will excite the enthusiast in you. It was recently unveiled by Suzuki days before the Tokyo motor show. One of the most attractive feature of the Suzuki Regina is its mileage. Suzuki has claimed the Regina can deliver a fuel economy of a mind boggling 36kmpl. This is quite interesting at a time when fuel prices are gradually increasing.
Suzuki has manages this fine fuel economy by keeping the weight of the Regina at just 730kgs. Further Suzuki has also negated another factor that will increase a car's fuel consumption – air resistance. The carmaker has built a aerodynamic body for the Regina making the car glide through air without offering much resistance. This will also improve the car's carbon emissions which is claimed to be 70g per kilometre.
The Regina is definitely a good looking car. The side panels has a distinct waistline. The smooth finish of the roof to the rear spoiler is also very noticeable. Suzuki has ensured the Regina has a long wheel base with the axles placed at the extreme corners. This not only improves the handling but also keeps the car well grounded and stable on corners.
The Regina's interiors must also find mention in this article as they are tastefully done. The space is also very high considering the car's size. The low floor, thin seats and intelligently designed doors and roofs also help in increasing the space.
The biggest question we will be asking about the Regina is will it head to India? The regina being a two doored car might need two more doors to make it a practical Indian car. The spectacular mileage of 36kmpl will definitely make it very attractive to Indians. If Suzuki manages to keep the price down, then this might well be the car that Maruti Suzuki is looking for.
