Skoda Rapid Launched At Rs.6.75 lakhs
The Rapid will have three variants – Active the base variant, the mid level variant will be the Ambition and the top variant is the Elegance. The three variants are the same for both the petrol and diesel variants. Incidentally, the price difference between the diesel powered Rapid and Vento is not much. The Rapid Active diesel is priced at RS.7.95 lakhs while the Vento Trendline diesel was priced at Rs.7.99 lakhs.
The Rapid's low price compared to the Vento is mainly because of the technology it shares with the Vento. Skoda has managed to reduce development costs as it has used several parts including the body panels. Drivespark has already reported that the Rapid is being built at the same VW plant as the Vento.
The Rapid will be available with a 1.6-litre petrol engine that can churn out 106bhp and 160Nm of torque. The diesel engine used in the Rapid is also a 1.6-litre engine but it can generate 105bhp and 253Nm of torque. Both these engines are already available in the Vento.
The Skoda Rapid Active will get a five speed manual gear box while buyers can also opt for a six speed automatic gearbox for the Ambition and Elegance variants. Stay linked to drivespark.com to get more information of the Rapid.
