Premier Launches Rio Compact SUV At Rs.4.7 lakhs

Premier, the Indian automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer has launched the petrol variant of the Rio compact SUV at Rs.4.70 lakhs. Such attractive pricing for an SUV has been achieved due to the Rio being shorter than four metres, bringing it to the category of small cars. Cars shorter than four metres are not charged high excise taxes.

Premier had earlier launched the diesel variant of the Rio at Rs.5.29 lakhs. The petrol variant is about Rs.60,000 cheaper than its diesel compatriot. The Pune based Premier has said the Rio is India's first compact SUV.

The Rio is powered by a 1.2-litre four cylinder petrol engine that will generate 76bhp and 104Nm of torque.

The Rio diesel offers a fuel economy of 16kmpl. We expect the petrol variant to offer about 12kmpl. The Rio is not devoid of safety features despite its comparatively low price tag. The compact SUV is equipped with seat belts, brake assist ABS (Antilock Braking System ) which allows for a confident drive.

Premier has equipped the Rio compact SUV with several features. Some of the notable ones are power steering, split foldable rear seats that will help increase luggage space, rear wipers to improve visibility, power windows,electronic door mirrors and remote central locking. The Rio also has a high ground clearance allowing it to travel on rough terrain and tough road conditions effortlessly.
