GM India Gets New Head in Lowell Paddock

General Motors has appointed Lowell Paddock as its new President and Managing Director for its Indian operations. Mr Paddock replaces Karl Slym who will now move to Chinese to head GM's joint venture partner SAIC and Wuling Motors.

Mr Padock has been involved in several senior positions in General Motors' operations in USA, Europe and Asia. His experience in product planning has been exalted by several senior members from GM. GM International Operations President Tim Lee is quoted to have said: “ We are pleased to have someone with Lowell"s vast experience heading our rapidly expanding operations and the growth of the Chevrolet brand in one of the world"s most important vehicle markets. His background provides a perfect fit with what we aim to accomplish in India."

Karl Slym who has been heading General Motors India since 2007 has played a pivotal role in improving Chevrolet's brand image in India. He was instrumental in the launch of the Cruze premium sedan and the diesel Beat. His efforts were also praised by Mr Tim Lee who said: “ “We thank Karl for his important contribution in India in improving market share, launching successful products like Cruze and Beat, commissioning the new car manufacturing and engine plants and expanding the dealer and supplier footprints."

Mr Slym will be working at the world's largest car market and his experience in India will help in providing a positive direction to SAIC and Wuling Motors. Mr Slym will continue to be part of General Motors International Operations.
