The petrol powered Up is expected to deliver a mileage of 24kmpl and emission s of just 44g of carbon per kilometre. It is yet unclear if the VW Up will get a diesel engine. The VW small car will take on small cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Wagon R , Ritz, Ford Figo,
The Cross Up was initially planned to be built in India using a platform from Maruti Suzuki. But after the Suzuki's decision not to continue with an alliance with Volkswagen, the German carmaker has decided to build the Up by itself.
The Up is a very important car for Volkswagen. It will be the car that the German carmaker will use to make a mark in the emerging markets across the world. With its hopes of gaining a dominant position in India dashed by Suzuki, Volkswagen will definitely look at the Up to make an impact.
