Mute Electric Car Debuts At Frankfurt

Mute Electric Car
The Frankfurt Motor Show is turning out to be a platform for several new concept vehicles, especially the electric ones. We had earlier reported about the Volkswagen Nils and the BMW eScooter, now it is the turn of the MUTE electric car.

The Mute has been developed by Germany based Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM). The Mute is powered by a lithium ion batteries and can hit a top speed of 120kmph. The batteries can power the Mute up to a range of 100km.

It is a two seater and has been designed for efficiency. Designers of the Mute focussed on fuel efficiency, low cost of construction and driveability. The engineers who built the Mute have used aluminium, carbon fibre and reinforced plastic extensively to reduce its weight. The Mute weights just 500kg making it one of the lightest electric cars around.

TUM engineers have developed MUTE from scratch. Every part has been optimized for three main factors: efficiency, low overall cost and safety. Preliminary studies were carried out to ascertain what mobility of the future will look like, what customer requirements will be and how these might be fulfilled in a cost-effective and weight-saving manner.
