Finally Workers Move Out Of Maruti Plant

Latest reports from Manesar indicate the workers have finally relented and have accepted to empty the plant. Although there were several police were posted out of the plant, no force was needed to be exercised.
Suzuki Motorcycle India union president Anil Kumar has said the decision to vacate the plant was not made voluntarily. He stated: “ We have decided to vacate the plant as per the government order but we will continue our strike."
The Haryana government has taken a tough stand against the striking workers and has asked police to evict them from the plants. The government has been miffed by the workers after they decided to go on a strike on 7th October just days after signing a new agreement with the Maruti Suzuki management. The government has also initiated legal action against the unions.
The on going events do not bode well with Maruti Suzuki's future plans. The carmaker is a dominant force in the industry with more than half the market share. But its position is becoming weaker with production coming to a complete standstill. Car buyers are slowly losing confidence in the carmaker and several are planning to buy cars from other carmakers.
If Maruti Suzuki is not able to solve its problems quickly and bring back production to full levels, it risks losing a huge number of sales. With Hyundai coming close to Maruti with new models such as the Eon and the Fluidic Verna, Maruti's position on the top will be in risk if not now but in the near future.
