Motor Shows show us what science fiction movies have been showing us for ever. Cars of the future. While the imaginative cars in movies are just designs, what we see in International motor shows are much closer to reality. One such car that has caught our eye at the Frankfurt Motor Show is Volkswagen's latest single seater concept – Nils.

The Volkswagen Nils is an electric vehicle that is based on the F1 concept. It is powered by a 5.3 kilo watt lithium ion battery. The Nils has a range of about 65 kilometres and can attain a top speed of 130kmph. The Volkswagen Nils has been designed in such a way that it does not take too much space. It can carry just one occupant and is an ideal city car. Its credentials as a practical city car has increased by its ability to be recharged completely within two hours.

Volkswagen has used aluminium and other light materials exclusively to ensure the weight of the Nils is not too high. This does not mean the carmaker has compromised on the Nils safety features. The Volkswagen Nils is equipped with electronic stability program and an automatic distance control system that brakes the car when it detects a possibility of a collision.
